"Christ became a servant . . . in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy." (Romans 15:8-9)

We are very grateful to be able to report that the Lord gave us a wonderful two days with the 2010 Musical Mission Team from Bob Jones University. If we’ve counted right, we think this is the fifth time the team has been able to visit Bordeaux since Drs. Bill & Janie McCauley began leading the team 20 years ago. As former team members ourselves who were greatly influenced by our summers spent on the team, it was a special joy for us to be able to serve as co-hosts along with Tim’s parents for this year’s team.
The MMT arrived on Monday evening, June 21st, which providentially coincided with Bordeaux’s annual Music Festival. It couldn’t have been a better time, as the city was all geared up for some great musical excitement. That evening, we took the team downtown where we were served supper by a sister church before heading out into the streets of Bordeaux. We took the team on a walking/singing tour of one of the busiest parts of town where they gave several mini-concerts and distributed nearly 1,600 tracts, as well as a couple hundred invitations for the next evening’s concert at our church.
The team spent the entirety of Tuesday morning at our church in Pessac where Tim and his dad were able to share their burden for France and missions with the team members and challenge them about their individual parts in it. Then they headed back into Bordeaux for a little touring and shopping, before returning to Pessac for the evening’s “musique et témoignages” (concert and testimonies) at our church. We were especially thrilled about the visitors that came, including several friends of ours as well as two men who had received an invitation during Monday night’s distribution. It seemed everyone was enjoying the fellowship as most of our guests didn’t even leave the reception following the concert until nearly 11 at night. Thank you for your prayers for this outreach effort.
Here is a short slide show of the team’s visit. (Click here if you are having difficulty viewing the slide show or would like to view it in a larger format.)
Wonderful! I’m sure it was especially sweet for you to be able to co-host this special team, and so close to your heart!
